Sagar (Karnataka) : The Famous Ganapathi temple at sagar was constructed on 1623 by the great rulers of Keladi dynasty. The temple was constructed with lake beside the temple known has Sadashiv Sagar lake. The basic entrance of temple facing eastern side with its Dvaja Sthamba facing eastern side. Later this temple came under several attacks and its main idol got damaged. Later the temple was renovated with new svyamboo linga and naming it as Lord Ganadishwar. Over the period, the temple entrance was forcibly diverted toward western side. At present, the place surrounding with Lake Sadashiv Sagar is being encroached thus affecting the purity and sanctity of lake and its development. Thus hurting the sentiments of Hindu devotes.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti held a protest against encroachment and requested Government to do a complete survey of land belonging to Sadashiv Sagar Lake and thus protecting it from encroachment, and thus protecting the purity and sanctity of lake and making clear the already encroached place.
Samiti requested government to take immediate measure and give justice and save from encroachment. A memorandum was submitted to the Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka, through Assistant commissioner of Sagar. Many dharmabimani participated in the protest.
