Mumbai: In its issue of 29th August 2006, the English Eveninger ‘Mid-Day’ had shown pictures of Lord Ganesh in the form of Adolf Hitler, Osama Bin Laden and George Bush. Three staunch Hindus had tried to lodge complaint against the daily Eveninger for such deplorable mockery of Lord Ganesh; but police did not register the complaint by giving some evasive reasons. Hindu organizations, however, did not give up their efforts and finally compelled the police to register their complaint at Bhoiwada police station. Earlier, police had sent the complainants from Malad police station to Tardeo police station as the printing press of the newspaper was in that area. Tardeo Police Station sent them back to Malad police station. Malad police station then sent them to Bhoiwada police station. Finally, the complainants had to seek help of Hindu Human Rights Commission and Bajarang Dal when a complaint was independently registered with Bhoiwada police station. The editor of ‘Mid-Day’ and its lawyers were present when the complaint was being filed and asked for pardon with a request to withdraw the complaint.
