Thane (Maharashtra): The Maharashtra Legislature took anti-Hindu decision on 1st June that the funds from ‘Sree Saibaba Mandir Sansthan (SSMS)’ would be allocated to the Government corporations, Government companies and institutions. Demonstrations were held at 3.30 p.m. in front of the office of the District Collector by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) demanding withdrawal of the said decision. A representation was submitted by the delegation of HJS in the District Collector’s office which was accepted by Tehsildar Ashwini Patil in the absence of the District Collector.
The demonstrators were carrying boards on which matter about ill effects of ‘governmentalization’ of temples was written condemning Maharashtra Government for robbing the money from SSMS. More than 70 devout Hindus participated in the demonstrations. Mr. Shivaji Vatkar and Ajay Sambhus of HJS, Mr. Ramesh Sanil of ‘Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh’, Maharashtra and Mr. Nagare of ‘Bharat Swabhiman’ addressed the participants presenting their views.
Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts said, “Maharashtra Government wants to grab the money offered by devotees at Shirdi Temple. Instead of using the funds for Sai-devotees and for development of the temple and Shirdi, the Government wants to divert it for other purpose by finding new ways. There is every possibility of the Government misusing the money; therefore, all Sai-devotees and devout Hindus should protest against the decision. The money donated by Sai-devotees at the holy feet of Sai Baba i.e. for religious purposes is being diverted secretly to ‘Mantralaya’ and this should be taken seriously.” Mr. Nagare of ‘Bharat Swabhiman Sanghatana’ said, “The present Government is exhibiting its corrupt nature by indulging in ‘Ravan-leela’ on ‘Ram-leela’ grounds; therefore, all patriotic citizens should condemn the Congress Government and teach them a lesson.” Mr. Ramesh Sanil said that all temples and religious organizations would oppose the unrighteous decision of the Government.
