Editor of ‘Dharma-Bhaskar’ passes away

Mumbai: Editor of the most widely read and idealistic Marathi monthly periodical 'Dharma-Bhaskar' and renowned Sanskrit scholar Professor Avadhut Shastri Tulapurkar passed away on Friday, 10th November due to old age. He was 78 years of age. For the past 35 years, he has been publishing the magazine 'Dharma-Bhaskar' with great conviction. To further the cause of spreading Hinduism and to enrich readers taste, he came into journalism.

He always gave publicity to the incidents of re-conversion of converted Hindus. He used to come out with special issues of the magazine on various subjects. He was conferred with many awards in journalism. He also got the 'Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Rashtriya' award for his social contribution. He was presented with the honorable award conferred by 'Radha Damodar Pratishthan' of Varadananda Bharati.

Avadhut Shastri studied Sanskrit at Kolkata and Varanasi. He also taught Sanskrit at Ruia and Maharshi Daynand colleges till the end. Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti have started campaigns to squash various assaults on Hindu religion. As a part of such drive, 3 years back, the Sanstha had organized 'naam-dindis (Go marching while chanting)' in different areas. Prof. Avadhut Shastri always made it a point to join such 'naam-dindis' and since then, his contact with Sanatan Sanstha and HJS developed. He used to attend meetings of HJS and gave his valuable advice. He always appreciated Sanatan Sanstha and HJS' efforts to condemn anti-Hindus and create awareness among people towards their religion, scriptures and saints.
