Navi Mumbai temples unite to fight anti-Hindu Acts

Navi Mumbai: On the recommendations of 15th Law Commission, the State Government is all set to pass the proposed Act for taking over management of temples and religious institutions in the State. In the recently held meeting at Sree Ayappa Mandir, Nerul, trustees of all temples in Navi Mumbai planned to fight the proposed Acts on Eradication of Blind Faith and Maharashtra Temples and Religious Institutions Act (MTRI).

Dr. Uday Dhuri, the Mumbai district convener of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti explained about the proposed Act on Eradication of Blind Faith and its adverse effects to the participants. Shri Shivaji Vatkar, the Mumbai district coordinator of HJS analyzed in detail, the proposed MTRI Act that excludes Madarassas and Durgahs of Muslims from its purview. Shri. Sadvani of Sree Jhulelal temple said that he would get complaints against the proposed Act from all Jhulelal temples.

Shri. Gopinathan Pillai of Sree Ayappan temple said that awareness will be created among people about the proposed Act and a press conference will be called. It was also planned to take signatures of devotees on representation and it will be submitted to the local MLA Shri. Ganesh Naik. It was further decided to form a ‘Navi Mumbai Mandir Sangharsh Samiti’ for the purpose. Trustees of various temples and staunch Hindus attended the meeting.
