Lasalgaon (Nashik, Maharashtra): ‘Pedhas (a sweet)’ made in ‘Hotel Uma’ is famous throughout the district. About 50,000 to 60,000 boxes, small and big, are used to sell these ‘pedhas’ during a year. There was a picture of Sri Ganesh printed on these boxes. People were throwing these boxes in trash after eating the sweets; thus denigrating Sri Ganesh. As the members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) realized this, they brought it to the notice of the hotel owner and explained to him how printing a picture of Deity results in denigration of the Deity. The owner immediately assured to remove the picture of Sri Ganesh from the boxes and he kept his promise. He has thus stopped denigration of Sri Ganesh that could have resulted at so many places. (Congratulations to the Hotel owner for preventing denigration of Sri Ganesh by removing His pictures from the sweet boxes on learning about it from members of HJS ! – Editor SP)
