Mumbai: Plastic and paper National Flags are used on Independence Day with great love and honour; but are seen littering around causing disrespect to it thereby. A demand has been made on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the Maharashtra Government to stop the disrespect to the National Flag and to take action against those involved in the production of such National Flags, their distributors and dealers. A representation in this regard is being handed over to State Minister for ‘Rajya Shishtachar‘ Mr. Suresh Shetty, Home Minister R.R. Patil, State Minister for General Administration Foujia Khan, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umeshchandra Sarangi. Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, HJS coordinator Mumbai Thane and Raigad Dist., Mrs. Varsha Thakar and Mrs. Janhavi Bhardike were present there at that time.
Minister’s order to take action against the production of plastic National Flags
State Minister Mr. Shetty gave an order to the secretary Ms. Valsa Nair Singh of Environment Department on telephone to take action against the establishments engaged in the production of plastic National Flags. He forwarded the representation writing the same comment on it for further action. He also assured saying that a circular will be issued on behalf of his ‘Rajya Shishtachar’ department. Home Minister applauded Samiti’s campaign to stop the disrespect to the National Flag and send the representation to the General Administration department. Foujia Khan too assured to give instructions through publishing a circular. Addl. Chief Secretary Umeshchandra Sarangi informed the police department/squad that a list of shops selling plastic National Flags, will be prepared to take action on them.
