If our age-old seats of faith come under assault, we will strongly oppose ! – Eknath Khadase

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session starts from today

Mumbai (Maharashtra) : ‘The Government is trying to push the anti-superstitions Bill no matter what. BJP also feels that if any improper things are happening, they need to be stopped; but the same should not result in imposing restrictions on faith and spiritual emotion (Bhav) of the people. If the Bill is going to stop physical and mental sufferings, it will be still acceptable; however, if customs and traditions followed in Hindu Dharma are going to be attacked under the guise of this Act, it will not be tolerated. If seats of faith of Hindus are going to be endangered, we will not keep quiet. Are you going to question ‘Vaikunthagaman’ of Saint Tukaram? This was the strong reaction of Opposition leader in the Assembly, Mr. Eknath Khadase while expressing severe protest against the proposed Act. Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the District-coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and representatives of Warakari Organisations called on Mr. Khadase when he expressed the above views.

He said further, “Are you going to stop custom of sacrifices followed in other religions? The Government has no right to attack the age-old faith of Hindus. Do not dare to stop the customs and traditions followed for years together. Why do you have objection to traditions of only Hindus? What is the need for a new Act? When the existing laws are adequate, the Government should implement them properly. Goat and cock is sacrificed to ‘Mother Mary’. Followers of other religions also sacrifice different animals on the occasion of their festivals. Is the Government going to stop that ? If you are so insistent about passing this Act, then it should be applicable for followers of all religions. Everyone should be treated equally under this Act. In case the Government is not going to think on these lines, we will strongly oppose this anti-Hindu Act.”
