Withdraw textbooks insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj immediately; else be ready to face mass protest campaigns ! – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
While the celebrations of birth anniversary of Hindutva Swarajya founder Shiv Chhatrapati was going on today, a very displeasing news came out that the Goa state board’s textbook of the Higher Secondary school has matter that shows contempt of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti strongly condemns this. No Hindu will tolerate such distorted history of the great kings of Our Motherland. Goa government should immediately withdraw this history book or else all Shivpremis will come out on the streets to protest against it, said Dr. Manoj Solanki, Goa State Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
A supplement was added to the textbook of History for class XI under ‘History of Goa’ by Goa government. The supplement narrates that Chhatrapati Shivaji attacked the Bardesh tehsil in Goa for three consecutive days, looted villages, burnt them, drowned children and women and killed some. All these are totally false. It is a great offense to chuckle at the character of Chhatrapati Shivarai, who behaved according to the pretext of ‘Par Stri Mata’ and had sent even enemy’s women back to them honorably. Therefore, Dr. Manoj Solanki, urged that a serious action should be taken against the author of the text as well as the authorities involved in including it in the textbook curriculum. This is not the first time that such a thing is happening. In 2008, NCERT textbook had texts insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Goa Government had to withdraw the book due to intense protest campaigns against it. If the government doesn’t revoke the supplement of this book, the protest will be repeated.
Hon. @goacm @DrPramodPSawant ji, we urge to you look into this matter of insulting #ShivajiMaharaj in Goa history textbooks. Shivaji Maharaj always had high regards towards women & children. Please withdraw insulting matter ASAP !#Stop_Insulting_Shivaji_Maharaj_In_Goa_Textbooks https://t.co/ZS8x3swLQ0

Objectionable matter in supplement attached to text book
1. Life history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been totally distorted. There is a lesson titled ‘Maratha Invasion’ in the text book. 15 marks have been allocated for history.
2. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj invaded Bardez taluka in the year 1669 and did things which shouldn’t have been done. He continuously attacked few villages for 3 days involving arson, looting; men, children and even women were imprisoned and some children and women were killed.
History is a subject that increases patriotism amongst students; therefore, true history should be taught to students; however, students are deprived of learning true history through such evil acts.
Our demands with the Government…..
1. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj treated all women, other than those related to him, like his mother which is learnt from his every action. Even then, false history of his killing small children and women is taught to systematically mislead children at tender age, inculcating wrong ‘sanskars’ in them; therefore, case should be filed immediately against the writer of this book, its publishers and all concerned persons.
2. The supplement with such false and derogatory matter about Chhatrapati should be immediately withdrawn from the curriculum. We are registering our protest and making demand in lawful manner. The Government should take prompt cognizance of the same; else the Government should note that all Shivaji-patrons would stage State-wide agitations on this issue.
