Demand made to remove tiles with pictures of Hindus’ Deities and religious symbols displayed at public places
Hindus’ Deities and Saints are seats of worship of millions of Hindus. Pictures of Hindus’ Deities, Saints, religious places etc are fixed on the walls of stair-cases, compound walls and places of garbage collection in many cooperative housing societies so as to prevent people from spitting, peeing and throwing garbage. It has, however, been observed that some people still spoil these tiles which leads to denigration of Deities and religious symbols. It is very painful and infuriating to see denigration of seats of worship as it hurts religious sentiments of people. It should be remembered that idols of Deities or religious symbols are meant for keeping at home or in temples for worshiping and should not be placed at places where people would spit; therefore, rules should be formulated that at private and public places or housing societies, pictures of Deities and religious symbols would not be displayed on tiles and such pictures should be immediately removed if found. Memorandum with the above demand was also submitted by HJS to State (Home) Minister Shambhuraje Desai.
