Final battle against proposed Anti-Superstitions Act to foil Govt.’s ploy – warn members of opposition parties

Mumbai: Under the sweet name of eradication of superstitions, the Maharashtra Government is trying to pass the Act which is, in fact, against the customs and traditions and religious rituals observed as per Dharma; therefore, strongly oppose this Act. The above request was made by members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Warkari Sampradaya by meeting MLAs from opposition parties and the MLAs warned the Government that it would be a final battle against the proposed anti-superstitions Act.

Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district-coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad, its members Mr. Satish Sonar, Mr. Ajay Sambhus, Mr. Lakshman Jathar, Mr. Prakash Karandikar, Mr. Mukund Ghanekar, Mr. Milind Poshe and representatives of Warakari Sampradaya Shri. Krushna Maharaj Ayare, Bapu Raokar and other office bearers were present on the occasion. Mr. Vatkar told in the meeting with MLAs that the present laws are capable of taking care of the problems faced due to superstitions; as such people and the elected representatives are not in favour of passing this Act. Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) which is insisting to pass the Act is against Hindu Dharma. The Act will attack faiths of the people; therefore, making efforts for not passing such oppressive Act will be a merit.”

…..then Govt. will be dissolved !

MLAs gave angry reactions against the Government like ‘If the Government wants to pass this Act, it will not be able to do so; if such Act is passed, there will be commotion in the House; Government will be taken to task; even then if the Government passes the Act on the strength of majority, it will be ousted. The Act will, therefore, not be presented and if at all it is presented, it will be opposed with all our might,’ were some of the reactions given by MLAs. MLAs who are practicing law assured that they would properly fight against passing of the Act. Representations against the Act were submitted to the following MLAs.
