Mumbai: Memorandum was submitted on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the Chief Secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad, chief secretary of the Department Social Justice Mr. Dinesh Waghmare, the Secreatry of law and Justice V. L. Anchalia, Rajendra Bhagavat and Upper Chief Secretary of Home Department Mr. Umeshchandra Sarangi against the proposed Anti-Superstitions Act.

It has been mentioned in the memo that the proposed Act is also equally detrimental to Dharma as the old draft; therefore, it should not be approved. In case the Government wants to pass this Act, opinions of legal experts and social workers should be sought first and then Act should be passed without any shortcomings. Few suggestions and amendments have been given along with the memorandum. Mr. Dinesh Waghmare held detailed discussions with Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad and representatives of Warakari Sampradaya. He said that suggestions given by HJS and Warakaris would also be considered; these suggestions would be sent to Study Committee for this Act and if necessary, to ‘National Law Commission’ for verification.
