Issue related to anti-superstitions Act

Thane (Maharashtra) : The proposed Anti-Superstitions Bill which will lead to bringing ban on many religious rituals of Hindus and interfering in their religious matters, should be cancelled, was the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) during demonstrations recently held near the District Collector’s office. A representation was submitted to Deputy District Collector, Mr. Amol Yadav. H. B. P. Eknath Maharaj Sadgir, the President of VHP for Konkan region, Mr. Pratap Pandit and Mukund Ghanekar of HJS, Smt. Neela Bhagavat, a devout Hindu and 42 members of different organizations were present on the occasion. Signature drive undertaken on this occasion received huge response from citizens. Despite heavy rains, majority of women took part in the agitation.
Mrs. Radha Surve of Ranaragini branch of HJS said while explaining about the proposed Act that the Government was misleading people and trying to pass an Act that would impose a ban on religious sentiments of Hindus. Mr. Abhijit Bhojane of Dharmashakti Sena said that the proposed Act will eradicate Hindu faiths and not superstitions. Hindus should unite to oppose the said Act.
