Representation submitted to Police Inspector at Lasalgaon
Lasalgaon (Maharashtra): On the occasion of Independence Day on 15th August, plastic National Flags are used in large numbers; however, under article 51 (A) of the Indian Constitution and other clauses, there is ban on use of plastic national flags and it is treated as an offence. Even then due to unpardonable indifference by the Government, plastic flags are sold and purchased everywhere. After flag-hoisting, these plastic flags are found strewn all over the roads, in gutters etc. leading to their abuse.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a representation to Mr. Santoshgiri Gosavi, Police Inspector (PI) of Lasalgaon Police Station with a demand to stop such abuse of National Flags and National Flags should be paid due respect. PI Gosavi assured the delegation of HJS that precaution would be taken to stop sale of plastic national flags in shops and at other places. Necessary instructions would be given to the sellers in this regard. He also appreciated the activities of HJS and expressed the need to undertake such activities in national interest. Mr. Nilesh Bora, Sachin Aher and Umakant Borhade of HJS were present on the occasion.
