Implement seriously the ban on plastic National Flags on the Independence Day – HJS demands to Dy Collector
|
Mapusa (Goa): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) recently submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Collector of Bardez, Mr. Dasharath Redkar demanding a serious implementation of the ban on the plastic National Flags. HJS delegation comprising of President of the Gomantak Mandir and Dhaarmik Sanstha Mahasangh Mr. Chandrakant alias Bhai Pandit; Mr. Ramesh Gavas, a well known businessman in Mapusa; Sau. Kranti Korgaokar; Mr. Dinesh Halarnkar of Sanatan Sanstha; Ms. Resha Narvekar of HJS; Ms. Anita Sutar of ‘Ranaragini’ submitted this memorandum.
The memorandum states that the Republic Day and the Independence Day are celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Constitution of Bharat has given the freedom to all Bharatiyas to flutter the National Flag on their houses. So also Flag Hoisting programmes are organised at various places all over Bharat and people enjoy the celebration with great enthusiasm. Millions of patriots have laid their lives to achieve freedom and our National Flag is a symbol of their great sacrifice. Many sacrificed their life to save the honour of the Flag by not allowing it to fall down on the ground. Unfortunately people have forgotten to maintain the honour of the Nation. The plastic or paper Flags that are held in the hand on the ‘Independence Day’ and ‘Republic Day’ with great honour and love during the flag hoisting ceremony, are seen lying on the streets, drains, filthy places in the afternoon of the same Day itself.
Besides the plastic flags remain there for a long time as plastic does not get destroyed and passersby are forced to ignore the dishonour to the flag. This is an insult to the bold patriots who suffered bullets of the British and the Portuguese on their chest to save the honour of the Flag. Goa Government had banned the sale of plastic flags on the last Republic Day and even before that and the sale of the plastic flags had reduced considerably. So we appeal to the Government to publish a notification immediately to ban the plastic National Flags this year too and take serious steps to implement the order of the ‘ban’. Dycollector Mr. Redkar assured the delegates saying that he was going to place this point (demanding ban) in the meeting with the police and implementation will be taken up with great seriousness.
Chief Minister too is given a memorandum to implement the ‘Ban’ on the National Flag seriously
Panaji: HJS has made a demand with the Chief Minister, Mr. Digambar Kamat to observe the ban on the plastic National Flags seriously, by submitting a memorandum to him.
