Pandharpur: Warkaris force a person to render apology for false propagation of Hindu Dharma !

Pandharpur (Maharashtra) : Mr. Sharad Patwardhan (Res. Terwad, Taluka Shirol, Dist. Kolhapur), a so-called ‘Maharaj’ was giving discourse on ‘Haripath’ at Saint Gajanan Maharaj Mutt. During his lecture, he was continuously talking against Hindu Dharma. As few eminent members of Warkari Sect viz. H. B. P. Nivrutti Maharaj Vakte, the President of National Warkari Sena, H. B. P. Tuntune Maharaj, H. B. P. Govind Maharaj Hande, H. B. P. Pawaskar Maharaj, H. B. P. Purushottam Maharaj etc. learnt about it, they rushed to the venue. They took Mr. Patwardhan to task and forced him to render apology by bowing before them.

A series of lectures was organized called ‘Sanjeevan Hari Path Divya Pravachane’ between 16th and 20th August. Mr. Patwardhan was making objectionable statements like ‘Do not abide by Hindu Vaidik Traditions, one can eat anything on the day of Ekadashi, do not observe fast, not a single Brahmin can ignite sacred fire by chanting mantras, ‘Vedas’ are fake, immerse ‘Dharmashastra’ in water’ etc.’ He also claimed that he got a ‘vision’ of Saint Dnyaneshwar in his dream, who advised that one can eat biscuits on the day of Ekadashi. Mr. Sadanand Ghate, his associate was with him. Few students hearing the lecture, reported about Mr. Patwardhan’s misleading propagation of Dharma to seniors from the Sect.

Warkaris take Patwardhan to task

Immediately the above mentioned dignitaries from the Warkari Sect rushed to Saint Gajanan Maharaj Mutt along with 100 devotees and took Mr. Patwardhan to task for such misleading propagation of Dharma. Mr. Patwardhan said that he gave lectures even at other places like Belgaum etc. This enraged the Warkaris who fired him. They asked Mr. Patwardhan how he dared to spread wrong information about Dharma and advised him to get a good guide on Dharma. They asked him to go to a learned H. B. P., serve him and undertake spiritual practice and only then to visit Pandharpur. Mr. Patwardhan started begging for pardon; but the young members of the Sect were not happy with just admonition. They asked Mr. Patwardhan to bow and brush his nose to the ground seeking pardon and make promise that he would not indulge in misleading propagation of Dharma in future. He also sought apology in writing. The management of Saint Gajanan Maharaj Mutt then drove out Mr. Patwardhan and Mr. Ghate. Warkaris raised slogans acclaiming Hindu Dharma on the occasion.

H. B. P. Hande Maharaj said to the reporter of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’, “There is a conspiracy to push such type of malpractices and persons with wrong attitude in Warkari Sect to create an atmosphere against Hindu Dharma. There is possibility of anti-Hindu organizations supporting such persons; therefore, all Hindus should always be alert, debate with such persons on Dharma matters and drive them out.”
