Pune (Maharashtra): Understand the main purpose of Ganesha festival and celebrate it in an ideal manner as per Dharmashastra. Those, who are not bothered about pollution of river water taking place throughout the year, show concern only during Ganesha festival and claim that river water gets polluted due to immersion of idols.
Many renowned organizations in the field of conservation of environment like ‘Air Quality Management Cell’, ‘Srushti Eco Research Institute’ etc. have given a report after carrying out experiments that immersion of idols of Sri Ganesha did not cause pollution; but those, who consider Hindu Deities as superstition, have no right to talk about Ganesha festival. Ganesha devotees should, therefore, not get carried away with rumours spread by few people and should immerse Sri Ganesha idols with all devotion in flowing water. The above appeal was made in a press conference by Mr. Sunil Ghanavat, the coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for Pune, Nagar and Nashik districts. Mr. Parag Gokhale of HJS, Mr. Hemant Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha, famous sculptor Mr. Milind Joshi and Mr. Chaitanya Tagade of Guruprasad Enterprises also attended the press conference.
