Mr. Sanjay Srivastav, Chief Secretary of Goa government said to the media that the Chief Minister of Goa expressed his support to the draft bill in a National Integration Council (NIC) meeting held at Delhi on 11th September. By supporting the said Bill the Chief Minister has appeased the minorities thereby hurting the sentiments of all Hindus. HJS condemns Goa Govt.’s action of supporting the Bill. HJS is appealing to all the Hindus to register their protest with the Government on this issue. HJS had earlier conveyed their opposition to the said Bill to the Goa Government as well as the Central Government by organising demonstrations at Panaji on 23rd August. The proposed Bill may cause a drift among the majority and the minorities. So also there might be altercations among the two which will disrupt the peace prevailing in Goa. Although the present Laws are quite capable; yet the central government at the Centre wants to pass the said Bill just to appease the minorities.
Panaji:
The Central Government has proposed the ‘Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill, 2011′ on the pretext of giving protection to the minorities but is going to cause injustice to the majority of Hindus. The Goa Government in spite of strong opposition from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other Hindu organisations for the bill has supported it.Mr. Sanjay Srivastav, Chief Secretary of Goa government said to the media that the Chief Minister of Goa expressed his support to the draft bill in a National Integration Council (NIC) meeting held at Delhi on 11th September. Even the persons involved in framing the Bill are having one sided view and are controversial in their statements. The Supreme Court too has objected to their approach. As the Bill has serious faults. As the Constitution advocates secularism there might be a distinction in the application of the laws in case there is a riot; as the laws applied to the Hindus will be very severe and those applied to the minorities will be very lenient. Hence HJS demands the cancellation of the Bill.
