Tuljapur (Maharashtra):
It has been observed that the idol of Sri Bhavanidevi was made from ‘timbre light’ which is a kind of rock found 150 kilometers deep under the earth’s surface. This rock is known as the mother of diamonds. The level of hardness of such rock is so high that scratches cannot be made on this rock. It is not affected by the atmosphere. Idols made from this rock last for a longer period. This has been found by the sculptors. These rocks have similar qualities like that of diamond; therefore, the effect of acidic matter on such rocks is negligible. When ‘abhishek’ of ghee is also made after the ‘abhishek’ of curd, the acidic effect of curd is nullified. A Government department has found about such erosion; but how have they measured it? The earlier and present picture of the idol should have been studied for the same; but it has not been done. How can a picture taken only once help in ascertaining the erosion? By asking these questions, Professor Ramrao Patil, the Director of Geology Complex of Solapur University has dissected the suppositions made by Archeology Department that the ‘bhogi abhishek’ should be stopped as it causes erosion of the idol. He raised the above queries while addressing ‘Tuljabhavani Mahatmya Jagruti Melava’ held in the office of Tuljabhavani Pujari Mandal.

Sri Tuljabhavani Pujari Mandal, Bhope Pujari Mandal, Upadhye Pujari Mandal and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had jointly organized the said conference. Mr. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of HJS and Mr. Abhay Vartak, the spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha also addressed the members of audience. The program was graced with the auspicious presence of Chief Mahant Tukojibuva of Tuljabhavani Devasthan, Mahant Mavjinath buva and H. B. P. Kaka Maharaj from Ansurde.

Tuljabhavani Pujari Mandal’s President Mr. Kishore Gangane, Mr. Sudhir – Parameshwar, former President of Bhope Pujari Mandal and Mr. Ashokrao Shamraj of Upadhye Pujari Mandal took initiative in organizing the whole program. The program started with blowing of conch. All the dignitaries then lighted lamp. ‘Aarti’ of Devi was performed at the hands of Prof. Ramrao Patil, the Director of Geology at Solapur University. Shri. Kishore Gangane, the President of Tuljabhavani Pujari Mandal welcomed the participants. Shri. Lalasaheb Magar explained the purpose of the conference. More than 300 devout Hindus attended the program.

Political ploy behind claim of erosion ! – Sanatan Sanstha

Mr. Abhay Vartak said, “Present Congress Government has surpassed the regime of Nizam in attacking Hindu temples. The Archeology Department has been claiming of erosion of the idol of Devi; but for Hindus, it is not just a piece of rock. It is divine energy in manifest form. In Kolhapur, women were allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Mahalakshmi Temple at the insistence of Mr. Ram Kadam, MLA of MNS. Now many young women are going to the temple wearing jeans and destroying the sanctity of the temple. Its effects like honey-bees’ attack on devotees, breaking of rod of Devi’s silver chariot were some of the experiences faced by the residents of Kolhapur. There is a big conspiracy behind the claim of erosion of the idol which is to force Hindus to lose their faith. Hindus should unite to foil the ploy. Hindus need to remember that they are first and foremost Hindus. There is a need for Hindus to become active towards matters related to Dharma rather than be Hindus only by birth. Everyone must give time for Dharma.”

It is a plot of the Govt. to stop creation of Shivaji among Hindus ! – HJS

Mr. Ramesh Shinde commended the efforts made by the priests for the convenience of devotees at Tuljapur and Pandharpur for the ‘darshan’ of Deity and said, “Today, an officer is given more value than a devotee due to the rights given by the Government. How can anyone be greater than a devotee? If the Government has made resolve to oppress Hindus, we will also follow the path shown by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. There is deliberate move to malign the pilgrimage places of Hindus by spreading misleading information about the money, idol etc. Why the Government is not using the money collected in the temples taken over by them for restoration of the old temples? Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was inspired to establish ‘Hindvi Swaraj’ by Sri Bhavanidevi. Hindus should not get such inspiration and no more ‘Shivaji’ should be born among Hindus that is what the Government feels and so is the conspiracy.

Appeal by Mr. Ramesh Shinde

  • Mahants should make efforts like Arya Chanakya to unite Hindus so that they will have control over the administration.
  • Forget the post, party, organization etc. for Dharma and unite
  • Strongly protest proposed anti-superstitions Act
  • The Government must seek views of Dharmagurus before taking any decision related to Dharma.

Prof. Patil said,

  • How can it be known from the photograph of Sri Bhavanidevi’s idol taken from 15 feet distance that there is erosion?
  • Why the Government is not thinking on the terms of applying ‘Vajralep’ on idol?
  • I am prepared to give details in this regard at any forum
  • There is no need to worry about the so-called erosion of the idol of Sri Bhavani Devi

Special information given by Mr. Ramesh Shinde

  • HJS took initiative and brought the malpractices to the notice of the Charity Commissioner’s office. The Court has passed order that excluding the expenses of Rs. 192 crores incurred on the offices of charity Commissioner, no extra money should be collected from the temples.
  • HJS has set up ‘Mandir Mahasangha’. The temples in Goa were paying till now, taxes levied by Portuguese regime before independence. ‘Mandir Mahasangha’ has successfully managed to stop such payment of tax.
