Missionaries wind up program after direct action taken by pro-Hindu activists

Shahuwadi (Dist. Kolhapur): A program was organized on behalf of ‘James Retreat Centre’ run by Christians, between 14th and 16th October at Lavhala village. The program, however, had to be wound up on the first day itself due to the direct action taken by pro-Hindu activists. (Congratulations to pro-Hindu activists from Malkapur for taking action against the program involving conversion of Hindus ! – Editor SP).  ‘James Maharashtra Convention 2011’ was organized by Mr. Krushna Pawar and Shrikant Malge of ‘James Retreat Centre’ for the so-called propagation of Christianity. Mr. Suresh Chandane of Shiv Sena from Malkapur, Mr. Amol Naravane, the city-President of BJP, Mr. Prasad Kulkarni of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Mr. Sudhakar Mirajkar of Sanatan Sanstha went to the venue of the program as they heard about it. Pro-Hindu activists warned them that the Christians should not say anything against Hindu Dharma, Hindus’ holy scriptures, Saints, Deities, customs and traditions etc. in their program. They also told the sponsors to check that there was no deception of poor Hindus for converting them. 

The pro-Hindu activists asked few questions to the missionaries about mistakes committed by followers of Christianity but the missionaries could not answer them. They called the police. The pro-Hindu activists met local police official Mr. Sitaram Patil and former Sarpanch, Mr. Anandrao Patil and explained to them about the conversions. Both of them assured to keep a watch and stop the program in case anything was said against Hindu Dharma. The irritated Christians, due to the stance of pro-Hindu activists, wound up the program in the afternoon and declared that owing to little response from the people, the program was being shifted to Bambvade.
