Dombivali: Mr. Ajay Sambhus and Mr. Vishwanath Kulkarni had gone to Sagav area to create awareness among vendors selling crackers. They found that in some shops crackers with pictures of Goddess Laxmi were kept for sale. These vendors were shown the circular issued by Government and told that it caused denigration of our Deities. The shopkeepers, however, said that it was their business and if sale was stopped, they would incur loss. They claimed that people went to them for buying such crackers only; therefore, they would not stop sale of those crackers.

After the incident, Mr. Sambhus and Kulkarni went to Manpada police station and narrated the whole thing to senior police inspector (PI) Prakash Nilewad. A complaint was also lodged with him for stopping sale of such crackers as it was an offence to sell such crackers under the law.  PI Nilewad also assured that immediate action would be taken against them and sent 3 policemen to Sagav to stop sale.
