Panvel: During Diwali, lot of crackers are burst with pictures of Hindu Deities and great national leaders leading to their denigration. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), therefore, gave guidance to 20 sellers of crackers on the issue. HJS activists viz. Mr. Kunal Patel, Sachin Salunkhe, Ajay and Pravin Khot went to the market opposite Patwardhan Hospital area where they observed that crackers with pictures of Godess Laxmi were kept for sale. The vendors were explained that when such crackers are burst, the paper with Deities picture is torn to pieces and such pieces are thrown on the roads , in gutters or trampled by human being or animals resulting in insult of Deities.

The vendors were shown circular issued by the Government and explained that sale of such crackers, leading to hurting sentiments of others, was an offence. Many vendors said that they were aware of denigration and therefore, they had not kept such crackers for sale this year. Some vendors said that they would not keep such crackers for sale but would return them to the wholesaler.
