Distortion of Indian Map by Southern Railways

Mumbai: At a conference held at Chennai of All-India women Railway Employees Association, some posters were displayed at various places. A member of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) realized on watching the posters that a portion of India was omitted from the India’s map and therefore, a protest was registered with Railway office about distortion of India’s map. (It has been observed that in some maps, part of Kashmir has been omitted from India’s map. It is a conspiracy of Pakistan. Every Indian, as a part of his duty, should be very alert and see to it that such distorted maps should be removed; as these maps indicate that the omitted portion is not part of India which is a very serious mistake. Every effort should be made to stop such distortion ! – Editor SP) Railway office has replied that it is not connected with this matter. It was mentioned in the protest letter sent by HJS to Railway that ‘The map displayed in the posters of the conference, is not as per the map approved by Indian Government. You have published wrong map and it has hurt patriotic sentiments of citizens. It is surprising that a Government Department can commit such mistake. Please take prompt action and rectify the mistake.’

Railway officers show inability to remove distorted map

Mrs. Uma Ravindran of HJS from Chennai called up Mr. Krushnakumar from Grievances Cell of Southern Railway’s office and made him aware of the distorted map as also of protest letter. Later, Mr. Krushnakumar contacted Mr. Shivaji Vatkar of HJS and said, “It is distortion of India’s map; but it has been done by the railway employees’ association; therefore, Railway Administration cannot interfere in the matter.” (This incident shows the manner of working of Government officials and they do not have national interest at heart. – Editor SP) Mr. Vatkar said, “As an Indian officer, you are requested to stop distortion of India’s map.” Mr. Krushnakumar, however, expressed his inability to do so and advised Mr. Vatkar to go to police. Mr. Vatkar then told him to send a reply, in writing, to the protest letter issued by HJS.

The General Manager of Southern Railways has informed HJS from Chennai office in writing that ‘The distortion has been done by railway employees association and Railway is not connected with the issue.’

Dear Sir,

Subject: Request to stop the Distortion of Indian map in the advertisement of the ‘Akhil Bharteeya Mahila Karmachariya Ka Sammelan’.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is an NGO engaged in Nation building, educating people on Dharma (Righteousness) and Dharmacharan (Abiding by Righteousness), awakening and uniting Hindus peacefully and through lawful means. For details, please visit our website www.HinduJagruti.org

We came across the map of India in the advertisement of ‘Akhil Bharteeya Mahila Karmachariya Ka Sammelan’ scheduled to be held from 14 to 16 November 2011 at Perambur, Chennai. The Map of India displayed on the brochure does not show proper demarcation of Kashmir, but deletion of part of Kashmir. This is not in accordance to the Official Map of India by the Government of India. You have by this act distorted the Indian map and presented an incorrect map. In the process you have hurt the National sentiments of India and committed a National offence. It is indeed surprising for such an blunder to occur on the part of a Government body.

We request you to a immediately correct the map, destroy the brochures, pamphlets, maps etc. and tender an apology to all Indians for hurting their National sentiments through this incorrect display of Indian map.

We request you to acknowledge the letter and inform us the action taken in the matter.

Thanking you,

Yours Faithfully,
