Oppose this Bill as it will put propagators of Dharma in problem ! – Mr. Ramesh Shinde

Panvel (Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra) : “Maharashtra Government is trying to pass the Anti-superstitions Bill 2011’ . Name is new but it is the same old Bill imposing restrictions on various religious rituals and customs observed in Hindu Dharma. It is necessary to define words used in the Bill; but words like ‘Daivi Shakti (supernatural power)’, ‘Aghori pratha (dreadful practice)’ etc. have not been defined in this Bill; therefore, whatever workers of ANS and police feel fit, will be the definition. It will lead to more misuse of the Bill. You are also trying to eradicate superstitions through your lectures/ keertans. We normally remove parasites from a tree; but ANS wants to destroy the whole tree,” said Mr. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for the States of Maharashtra and Gujarat. He was addressing a gathering of ‘keertankars and pravachakars’ in Hanuman Temple at Panvel. H. B. P. Ganesh Maharaj Patil and H. B. P. Suresh Maharaj were present on the occasion.

Mr. Shinde said further, “If this Anti-superstition Bill is passed, it will impose ban even on your giving lectures and ‘keertans’. If we preach that we get peace and happiness through ‘keertan’ and accept some honorarium for ‘keertan’, then ANS workers will lodge a complaint that they did not experience any happiness and peace and would sue for fraud. This will stop ‘keertans’. Clause 13 in this Act is very harmful. Under this Bill, ANS workers will work as social police and this gang of atheists will destroy seats of faith of Hindus misusing this Act to a large extent. Everyone should, therefore, oppose this Bill.”

Act has to be opposed with all strength – H. B. P. Ganesh Maharaj Patil

This Bill is dreadful and will destroy Hindus’ faiths. One will not realize the repercussions unless it is passed. We will oppose this Bill because if it is passed, we cannot propagate Hindu Dharma. We must therefore, oppose this Bill with all the strength. With God’s grace, we have been opposing this Bill for the past 2 years. This time too, let us strongly oppose this Bill and thwart the ploy of ‘Dharma-drohis (heretics)’.

Highlights

1. Signature drive was undertaken to oppose this Bill.

2. ‘Keertankars and Pravachankars’ agreed to create awareness among people towards the said Act through their ‘keertans’ and pravachans (discourses)’.
