Panvel (Maharashtra) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) organised ‘Bal-sanskar’ classes for children in Shri Datta Temple, Kopra. Mrs. Mandhare of HJS guided the children. Children were explained the religious acts to be performed daily, manner of celebrating birthday as per Hindu culture giving them demonstration. A competition of drawing and colouring pictures of Saints and Deities was also held on the occasion. 35 children took part in this project.

Highlights

  1. The program was first arranged in the temple; but it was shifted to the terrace of temple by children as painting work was going on in the temple. 
  2. Miss Swagata Raikar, one of the participants resolved that she would celebrate her birthday, which was approaching soon, as per Hindu culture instead of western culture.
  3. Looking at their enthusiasm, the owner of the temple made terrace available to children.
  4. Children said that they would explain importance of Sanatan’s books and almanac to people from their village.
