Mumbai: Anti-Hindu play ‘Vastraharan’ was to be staged at Damodar Hall, Parel in Mumbai from 4.30 p.m. on Sunday. Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti held demonstrations to protest in a very peaceful and legal manner against the play. As the demonstrations were going on, Shri. Macchindra Kambali, the producer and actor of the play went to the theatre manager and started shouting at him and told him that the members of HJS should be told to leave and stand outside the premises of the theatre. He threatened that if HJS members were not driven out, he would get his 25 people and create a mess.
The theatre manager was helpless and he called Dr. Uday Dhuri and Shri. Milind Poshe of HJS with the assistance of police and requested them with folded hands to go out of the premises for holding demonstrations. But the members politely refused his request. The police present on the scene told the manager that HJS is doing very commendable job and if Kambali tries to create mess, they would register a case against him. The police did not stop at that but brought extra force for protection of HJS members and told the manager that it was their duty to protect members of HJS. They also told the manager to let the demonstrations go on. The police called for a copy of FIR registered against the manager of Shri. Macchindra Kambali for earlier threatening to kill members of HJS when the show of the play was staged at Shivaji Mandir in Dadar.
