Idols of Goddess Durga and Lakshmi-Narayan vandalized

Gadachiroli: Idols of Durga Devi and Lakshmi-Narayan in the Lakshmi-Narayan temple worshiped with great devotion by the locals were damaged by miscreants. The robes which the idol of Devi was draped in, were burnt. The Shiv Sainiks under the leadership of Shri. Surendra Singh Chandel condemned the incident by holding demonstrations and blocking the roads. A ‘bandh’ was observed to protest against the denigration and the Shri Dharmarao Atram, the concerned Minister was gheraoed.

Some unidentified miscreants tore the robes draped around the idols of Sree Durga Devi and Lakshmi Narayan, threw the same out of the temple and later burnt them. The devotees were shocked to see the desecration. All local Hindus held agitations by taking out protest march against the incident. They were also raising slogans condemning the denigration. The business community also showed their support by closing down the shutters.
