Kalyan (Maharashtra) : A drive to create awareness among people was undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) outside railway station on West side at Kalyan for prevention of abuse of National Flag occurring on Republic Day. The drive received good response from local citizens. Hundreds of local residents supported the drive by signing representation.

Thousands of patriots have sacrificed their life for honour and protection of National Flag. People are forgetting this national identity; therefore, flags made of paper and plastic exhibited so proudly on the Republic Day, are found strewn on the roads, gutters in torn condition right from the afternoon on Republic Day. Moreover, due to use of plastic, the flags don’t disintegrate immediately and such abuse is seen helplessly for many days. HJS, therefore, organized the drive to stop such abuse and create awareness among people. Many pro-Hindu organizations joined the said drive. Mr. Pramod Joshi, the national spokesperson of Hindu Mahasabha said that all should be united in trying to see that the National Flag was protected and it did not become ‘green’. Mrs. Alpana Joshi of Sanatan Sanstha said that we think only about our family and home. As a citizen of India, we should do something for the Nation. All should therefore, join such drive.

Highlights

  • Rickshaw drivers said that they would not display National Flag on their vehicle.
  • The citizens promised that they would not give National Flags made of paper and plastic to children.
  • Many citizens stopped their vehicle to sign the representation.
