Maharashtra : Spontaneous response to HJS’ drive ‘Respect National Flag’

The drive undertaken at various places by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to preserve honour of National Flag received spontaneous response from people. Activists of HJS collected, with due respect, flags lying on the roads. Students and citizens joined the drive at some places. The drive undertaken by HJS was appreciated by people from all walks of life.

Yeotmal (Maharashtra) : Activists of HJS collected the flags fallen down from vehicles and thrown by people on the roads in a collection box. They also created awareness among people while collecting the flags. An exhibition on life history of revolutionaries was held on the occasion.

Highlights

1. Mr. Shejole, the administrative officer from Home Guards Department paid a visit to the place and commended HJS drive.

2. Students from Vivekananda School removed flags displayed on vehicles by creating awareness about National Flags.

3. Mr. Dattabhau Kulkarni, the municipal councilor visited the exhibition and promised to take part in the next HJS drive.

Vani (Dist.Yeotmal, Maharashtra) : National Flags, strewn on the roads, were collected in an ‘Honour’ box from areas like Tehsil, Panchayat Samiti and Lokmanya Tilak Chowk. The shopkeepers and citizens in these areas were explained the topic who thanked the activists of HJS and lauded their drive.

Karanja( Dist. Washim, Maharashtra) : The drive undertaken in local Shivaji Chowk area was started with worshipping statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. An exhibition on the life history of revolutionaries was also held at the venue.

Highlights

1. Many young children put the flags bought by them, in the ‘Honour’ box.

2. There was crowd near the seller of National Flags. People from the crowd were explained about the abuse of National Flag; after which children returned the Flags bought by them and took back money from the seller.

3. Local news channels video-recorded the drive undertaken by HJS.

4. Children formed two groups to collect the discarded flags.

Mangalurnath, Dist. Washim : In Shivaji Chowk area, thrown flags were collected and importance of Republic Day was explained over loudspeaker; besides, distributing handbills on the subject.

Highlights

1.  Four newspaper representatives went to compile the news.

2. Mr. Sunil Gawande, the city-President of Shiv Sena made available sound system for the program.

3. A shopkeeper took 500 zerox copies of the handbill for distribution without charging anything.

Amravati (Maharashtra) : A rally was taken out jointly by HJS and Bharatiya Kanya Vidyalaya (BKV), Rajapeth to create awareness among people. Miss Snehal Kamble and Mr. Kiran Duse of HJS explained to the students and people, the manner in which abuse of National Flag occurs and what should be done by the citizens to prevent such abuse. Mr. G. R. Thosar, the Principal of BKV said that ‘We do not know how many people sacrificed their life for freedom of this country; therefore, our blood does not boil to see flags lying on the roads.’ All students resolved that they would not abuse National Flag in future.

Nandane, Dist. Dhule : Lecture and exhibition on life history of revolutionaries was organized at H. H. Pandurangdada Secondary and Higher Secondary School.

Mr. Pandurang Bapuji Sangale chaired the program. Mr. Nimba Tulshiram Patil, the Vice-President of the organization, Professor H. P. Patil and Mrs. Prachitai of HJS were present on the occasion.

Mr. Pandurang Sangale said that every student should keep the revolutionaries as his ideal. Mrs. Prachitai spoke about glorifying history of India, the present situation in the country and its solutions. Teachers Mr. Gujar and Santosh Patil took initiative in attending to all jobs in organizing the program.

Mumbai : On the occasion of 26th January, Jai Hind Seva Sangh and Navutkarsh Mandal Trust, with Mr. Gajanan Kirtikar of Shiv Sena as its President, organized ‘flag-hoisting’ program at Goregaon. Mr. Sumit Sagavekar hoisted the flag at both these places which received very good response from local residents including youth members.

Jai Hind Seva Sangh (JHSS) is an organization from Goregaon engaged in activities related to welfare of the Nation and Dharma. Nav Utkarsh Mandal Trust undertakes various religious and patriotic programs as also programs to inculcate moral values among young children. After flag- hoisting, everyone sang ‘Jan Gan Man…’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and took oath jointly. Social worker Mr. Nitin Satra was the chief guest at Nav-utkarsh Mandal (NUM)’s program. Children, who had won various contests held on the occasion, were distributed prizes at the hands of Mr. Satra. Mr. Sagavekar of HJS guided the audience members on the present condition of the Nation, various attacks on the Nation, sacrifices by revolutionaries for freedom of the country and created awareness towards preserving honour of the National Flag.

Mr. Sandip Singh, the President of JHSS, Rajesh Ahire, Pradip Mahadik, Sharad Pawar besides Mr. Lakshman Shirsat, the Vice-President of NUM, Kumar Barade, Ashok Kharalkar, Subodh Bhosale, Satish Salunkhe, Shahsikant Bhurke, Ganapat Bhosale and HJS activists viz. Ninad Oak, Jayesh Surve and Rohan Patane were present on the occasion.

Highlights

1. All members of JHSS took initiative in organizing this program and there was unity among all members of JHSS.

2. When Mr. Rajesh Ahire of JHSS learnt about abuse of National Flag, he immediately took out and deposited the badge he was carrying in his pocket with picture of National Flag.

3. The President and Vice-President of NUM said that they would organize HJS programs for their workers and parents.

4. The whole area was resonating with acclamation of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharatmata’.
