Panvel (Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) undertakes a drive on the occasion of Republic Day for prevention of abuse of National Flag. Under this drive, sellers, shopkeepers etc. are explained about maintaining honour of National Flag. HJS submits representation to the Government and distributes handbills on the subject. On 26th January, National Flag was stuck on the glass panel of a shop called ‘Tenz Studio’ near Rupali Theatre. Also, three Tee shirts in the colour of National Flags were stacked and kept on display thus causing abuse. Mr. Milind Poshe, an activist of HJS noticed this and he immediately brought it to the notice of manager Raju and other workers from the shop. He told them that National Flag was not a show-piece. It is punishable offence to dishonor National Flag. As per the Flag code, flag has to be hoisted at a high place. He explained to them about Flag code. The manager then realized the mistake and removed flag from the show-case rendering apology. He said that he was not aware of those facts and the arrangement of exhibiting clothes in such manner was done only to attract customers. He thanked HJS for giving guidance on the subject.
