Magh Krushna Dashami, Kaliyug Varsha 5113

Nashik (Maharashtra) : A drive to create awareness among people against celebration of ‘Valentine Day’ was undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) near Guru Govindsingh College in Indiranagar, Nashik. HJS activists viz. Mr. Manohar Jadhav, Rajesh Chaudhary, Mrs. Smita Pathak, Mrs. Sunita Nakil, Mrs. Vasudha Chaudhary, Mrs. Revati Bhat, Mrs. Jadhav etc. distributed pamphlets to students from this college explaining the ill effects and futility of ‘Valentine Day’.

Celebrating ‘Valentine Day’ means following perverted customs of western culture. Media and companies manufacturing greetings cards propagate this ‘day’ for their financial gains. This, in a way, helps conversion of Hindu culture; therefore, it was advocated in the pamphlet to stop following not only ‘Valentine Day’ custom but all other practices followed in western culture that take people to materialism and immorality; but people should follow Hindu culture that advocates moral values. About 300 students took benefit of this drive.

Highlights

Mr. Ravi Pawar, a devout Hindu was passing by the road but he read the word ‘Hindu’ on the banner and came back. He said that it was foolish of Hindu youths to celebrate such ‘Days’. We feel shy to celebrate our festivals. Doing anything for protection Hinduism is bound to create obstacles in the path; but today, it has become necessary.
