Jamnagar (Gujarat) : There is a dire necessity for providing Dharmik education to Hindus and those who do not have the mental strength due to lack of spiritual practice and practice of righteousness, fall prey to the bad traditions which tend to destroy the society and culture. Only after understanding the spiritual science, it is possible to prevent the bad practices in celebration of festivals and thereby possible to establish a well cultured Hindu nation. This opinion was expressed during the discussions on the topic ‘Should we celebrate Valentine Day ?’.
This discussion was organised on 13 February 2012 on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti in Jamnagar district located in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Eight doctors doing their post-graduate studies at Gujarat Ayurveda University had participated in this discussion.
The discussion commenced with prayers to Sri Ganesh. Next, information on the activities on Hindu Janajagruti Samiti was shown using an audio-visual film. Doctor from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Shri Amit Makwana provided information on the greatness of Hindu culture and reasons for its degradation, history of bad traditions like ‘Valentine Day’ and its adverse effects, etc. Lack of education in righteousness, blind imitation of western culture and celebration of festivals without understanding the intent behind these festivals, etc., are the reasons for the degradation in Hindu culture. This opinion was expressed in the discussions by the doctors participating namely Dr. Kalpesh, Dr. Chetan, Dr. Jayprakash, Dr. Mansukh and Dr. Vaibhav.
