‘Superstitious’ Mulayam Singh skips Noida

New Delhi: Six days after the dismembered skeletons of young women and children were unearthed from a bungalow in Noida, politics over the macabre incident is fast gathering steam.

While the Central government on Wednesday announced a detailed inquiry into the lapses in the probe, the UP government seems to be treading cautiously and has come under a lot of criticism as well.

Even as Opposition leader in UP Assembly Mayawati visited the area on the third day itself and called for the dismissal of the state government, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is in Delhi has so far not paid a visit to the stunned Nithari village.

Mulayam’s conspicuous silence has sparked off fierce speculation that he is avoiding Noida because of a political superstition ahead of the UP Assembly elections. It’s widely rumoured that any UP Chief Minister who visits Noida during his tenure does not return to power.
