Press Release by Shri Vittal Bhairav Sewa Saba and Kala Mandir

New Delhi : Kashmiri Pandits from all across New Delhi and NCR assembled at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi today to protest the destruction of the famous Vittal Bhairav Temple & Jogiswari Temple in Rainawari, Srinagar (Kashmir). The idols of the deity and the sacred 400-year-old mulberry tree have been axed by Jihadis. It has sent shock waves among the Hindu worshipers as it has hurt our religious feelings.

Incidents like encroaching the temple/shrine lands, vandalizing/demolition of temples have increased in the last few years all over the Kashmir valley. Destruction of temples right under the nose of authorities continues despite the issue being taken up with both the state & central Governments from time to time. The tall claims made by the political parties in the state about protection of the shrines and temples of the exiled Hindus have all fallen flat.

The ‘Hindu Temple/Shrines protection bill’ has been put in the cold storage by the state Government and it seems no one is interested in protection of the ancient heritage of Kashmir symbolized by its religious shrines.

THEREFORE, WE DEMAND:

1. A firm resolve on part of the Indian state and its political leadership to reclaim Kashmir as a functioning secular society. This would demand delegitimizing all variants of competitive communal politics in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

2. Arrest of the culprits involved in destruction/demolitionShree VittalBairav Temple Complex.

3. Restoration and reconstruction of the Shri Vittal Bhairav temple Complex to pre-1990 position by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir as they are constitutionally bound to restore the religious places which have been destroyed due to the failure of the state in maintaining law & order and protecting the Minorities.

4. All the sales/lease deeds of temples/shrines/and other quasi-religious properties and lands be declared null and void through an ordinance.

5. Setting up of a commission of enquiry to look into the cases of temple demolitions.

6. Institute high-powered tribunal to vacate forcible, fraudulent,’ Religious properties held by Displaced Kashrniri Hindus.

7. Reopening of the cases of killings of Kashmiri Hindus at the hands of terrorists to award deterrent punishment to the perpetrators of genocide.

It is high time that these genuine demands of our community be accepted. This step would I i provide some solace to the neglected and ignored community of Kashmir’ Pundits bruised and battered by the religious extremism and terrorism and Government apathy both at state and central level. ,Government must act as it is an imperative to strengthen the secular and regional fabric of our state.

Appeal for Hindus to gather together at Jantar-Mantar

April 6, 2012

A Dharna is being organized at Jantar Mantar Delhi at 3.30 PM on 6th April Friday. We appeal all devout Hindus with their families to participate in the agitation.

Let us make this a test case with the Govt for Reversal of Genocide and I am specifically impressing upon it that the issue here is the Destruction of The Temple Complex including the sanctum sanctorum (350 yes old) Tulkul of Vaital Bairav and all other temples in the complex. This is an issue of our Religious sentiments and our culture and Heritage which is deliberately and consciously being annihilated by the Jehadist KMs unabashedly as part of Genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus.

My humble request to those who are treating this as matter of land grabbing by a land mafia is that please desist from such pleas and desist from reflecting the same in the press or other Fora, etc. If your Thokur kuut has been attacked by a jehadi, whether you are living in owned house or a rented house is immaterial; the focus is Destruction And Desecration of your faith. Land is not like an apple once you eat it it is gone. it is their, it was their and it will be there. it is matter of legal technicalities which is always course left to us.

Our focus and demand should remain always to get the Temple reinstated by the Govt to pre-1990 position and arrest of the culprits who are responsible for this. Any govt in the world is duty bound to reconstruct the places of worship which are destroyed in riots, attacks, breakdown of law and order or genocide etc. Please refer to the recent ruling of Gujrat high court which invoked the same rule and directed the state Govt. to reconstruct the places of worship whether that of Muslims or Hindus. This should be easy for those pandits to convince the powers they are bonhomie with, and poo poohing the return.
