Khopoli (Maharashtra) : It is the opinion of judges and legal experts that existing laws of Indian Penal Code are adequate to eradicate superstitions. Then, where is the need for a new Act? It may be mentioned here that George Binning from England is following up matter related to passing of this Act. He is an atheist from foreign country; what is his concern about our Nation, our Dharma and our abiding by Dharma ? Why should he interfere in such matters? And why our Government is trying to appease him?, asked Mahant Yogiraj Bhainath Maharaj to the Government.
Mahant Yogiraj Bhainath Maharaj was giving his opinion on the anti-superstitions Act being brought forth by the Government through the medium of Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANiS). He said further that Maharashtra Government is falling prey to the pressure exerted by organizations which do not believe in existence of God and oppose religious matters out of their ignorance. It is a conspiracy to legally suppress Hindu Dharma. Why this Act is being passed targeting only Hindu Dharma? This question is still unanswered. There is no explanation given about whether the proposed Bill would be made applicable to even other religions. The Central Government passed an Act like family planning in the interest of this nation; but in this country believing in secularism, why this Act is not implemented effectively tofollowers of other religions?
Such double standard of the Government creates doubts about its secularism. Is the anti-superstitions Act now going to meet the same fate? Why the issue is not being discussed with Saints, religious heads and religious organizations following various sects by taking them into confidence?
Govt. is eying wealth of Mutts and temples !
