Protest letter sent By Mr. Amit Kakri to Infibeam.com

The General Manager/Managing Director
Infibeam.

Sir,

this is to strongly protest against your commercial advertising Infibeam which denigrates hindu dieties, Lord Shiva, Godess Parvati, and our revered Shree Ganesh and Kartikeyan

The question arises that what purpose is served by such denigration? Is your creative department so morally and intellectually bankrupt that you have to resort to such denigration and hurting the religious feelings of the majority community of the country for selling the services of your company?

Let me assure you that your attempt is not funny! It is very vulgar, cheap and absolutely disgraceful.Your actions also represent a criminal offence under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

May I therefore suggest you do not open yourself to criminal prosecution, but apologize to the devout Hindus whose sentiments you have hurt, and immediately withdraw the blasphemous commercial.

Awaiting your reply per return e mail.

Regards,

Amit Kakri

From our correspondent

Recently, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, a non-profit Hindu organisation, received complaint from devout Hindus about an advertisement 'Ganesha orders a Book' by Infibeam.com. Infibeam.com is an online shopping portal which has denigrated Hindu gods Shri Shiva, Shri Ganesh, Shri Kartikeya and Shri Parvati in its advertisement called 'Ganesha orders a Book'. The advertisement is being broadcasted from last couple of days on various TV channels by many broadcasters including reliance big TV .

A devout person cannot begin to imagine what has conjured up and graphically crystallised in this advertisement wherein it portrays that Shri Parvati gets bored without Shri Shiva . So Shri Ganapati asks Shri Paravati if she wants to read a book  to pass her time and tells her that by just logging on to Infebeam.com any book from the world can be ordered  and Shri Paravti tells Shri Ganapati that she wants a Steve Jobs book ." In this advertisement the deities Shri Shiva, Shri Ganesh, Shri Kartikeya and Shri Paravti have been presented as cartoons in a very funny way . It is highly objectionable to Hindu religious sentiments that the revered Deities are being used in the fictitious context.

The Advertisement 'Ganesh orders a Book' by Infibeam.com denigrating Hindu Gods

Infibeam should note that businesses should handle faiths with utmost care and sensitivity and should not reshape the religious concepts merely to fulfill their financial greed. Shri Shiva, Shri Ganapati, Shri Kartikeya and Shri Parvati were not meant to be reduced to just a “character” in a advertisement to solidify company/products base in the growing economy of India.

Shri Shiva, Shri Ganapati, Shri Kartikeya and Shri Parvati are greatly revered and their worship is very popular among Hindus and there are numerous temples dedicated to them. Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents.

Infibeam.com should immediately withdraw this advertisement showing some “responsibility” to its hurt Hindu customers worldwide. Moreover Infibeam.com should create a high-level check system so that denigrations like this did not happen in the future. Meanwhile Hindus all over world should boycott Infibeam.com products and services till the time they don't withdraw denigrating advertisement of Hindus gods and apologize to Hindus.
