Jaipur (Rajasthan) :
Stepping up its agitation against the Centre’s decision to provide 4.5 per cent reservation to Muslims within the OBC quota, theVishwa Hindu Parishad has decided to stage a nationwide protest on Monday. "Large number of activists will participate in the dharna against the Centre’s policy of Muslim appeasement at all the district and tehsil headquarters," VHP’s Joint General Secretary Vinayak Rao said here today. He alleged that the Centre’s move to provide sub-quota to Muslims within the 27 per cent OBC reservation was "unconstitutional" and said the VHP would raise the issue with the highest authorities. "When we are a secular country, why is the government so keen for caste-based reservation?" he asked. Rao said a large number of representations addressed to the President and Prime Minister would be handed over to district collectors after the dharna and demonstrations. In Jaipur, the demonstration will take place at the Collectorate, he said, adding the VHP was also opposing the decision to reduce the number of days of Amarnath yatra. "We are demanding 60 days of Amarnath yatra but it has been reduced to 39 days this year. We are opposing this move and will launch a campaign ‘Shiv Bhakt Bharti Abhiya’ from May 6 this year," said Rao.Source : IBN
