Kochi (Kerala) : SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan once again played back his ambitious ‘Hindu Unity’ proposal on Tuesday when he said it was high time the entire Hindu community in the state became unified.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Hindu Economic Forum here on Tuesday, he said the the members of the majority community go blind when it comes to exercising their franchise, whereas some other communities put pressure on the political parties by becoming a consolidated force, said Vellappally. He added that a major share of the revenue collected by the state exchequer is going to those belonging to the minority communities. He also referred to the irrational allotment of educational institutions to the minority communities.

However, he took a dig at NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair, saying that the latter’s comment on Ramesh Chennithala’s eligibility as Chief Minister exposed his double standards.

According to him, the BJP candidate contesting in the Neyyattinkara byelection stand to garner a major share of votes this time around. “The SNDP Yogam has not taken a stand yet,” he said.

Hindu Economic Forum president L Gopakumar presided over the function. Forum secretary K R Sajeev, Mata Amritanandamayi Math international general secretary Swami Purnamritananda Puri and Sree Ramadasa Mission Chenkottukonam Math head Swami Sathyananda Theertha also spoke.
