Mr. Ramesh Shinde while addressing audience |
Akluj (Maharashtra) :
Overdose of modernity is destroying Indian culture, said Mr. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). He was speaking on the topic of ‘Modernity and deterioration of Indian culture’ organized by ‘Raghav Pratishthan, Gurumauli’. Mr. Sunil Patil, the Vice-President of Solapur Vyasan-mukti Sanghatana’ presided over the function. Mr. Vijay Tambile, an industrialist and snakes- friend Dhananjay Deshmukh from Indapur attended the program. The program began with garlanding ‘Paduka’ of ‘Gurumauli’ followed with lighting of lamps by the present dignitaries.Mr. Ramesh Shinde was felicitated with shawl and sreephal (coconut) by Mr. Bapu Jamdar. Children sang a song ‘Shoor aamhi sardar ….’ before start of speeches.
Mr. Shinde said further, “China, the country which is always securing first place in Olympic tournaments and USA mostly in the second place, never play cricket. The Chinese President had said in this connection, “We want to rule over the world; therefore, the importance of entertainment is only 1-2 % in our life and the remaining time should be spent on service unto the nation. We cannot afford a game like cricket which is played for 8 hours.” Swami Vivekananda had explained the importance of Indian culture in one sentence that ‘In our Hindu culture, except wife, all women are treated as mothers; whereas in other countries, except the mother, all women are treated as wife’. Such highly revered culture is deteriorating because we have forgotten our history and Dharma. Rather than over indulgence of western culture in the name of modernity, let us be proud of incidents that have taken place in the history, abide by Dharma and show Lord Macaulay that we are going to preserve our culture despite his efforts to eradicate our culture.’ The program was attended by 400 ‘jidnyasus’.
