Thane: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held silent demonstrations against the anti-Hindu Marathi play ‘Vastraharan’ at the local theatre. People who had gone to watch the play were also made aware of the issue. Hence, there was a good response even from members of the audience. As Shri. Macchindra Kambali, the director of the play, had warned the theatre employees, HJS members were asked to display boards protesting against the play outside the theatre.
One of the viewers opined that the play was only for entertainment. There was nothing objectionable in the play, which would cause denigration of Hindu deities.
He asked that do we really follow what our Dharma preaches. Everyone should introspect. Implying Sanatan Sanstha, he said that it would know that there is nothing to cause mockery of Dharma. A member of the Samiti was trying to make him understand when a person told the member that he had some queries and he was from press. A lady started shouting that why the Samiti was agitating. Another lady and a gentleman later joined her. She said that people go to watch the play only as a means of entertainment. Why should there be objection to the play? The lady further said that in the epic Mahabharat, Draupadi had five husbands then why the Samiti does not say anything about Mahabharat?
