Nevada (USA): Hindus have applauded Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited for reportedly performing Bhumi-Puja (Earth-Worship) for the Hyderabad Metro mega-project at three sites on April 26.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended L&T, one of India’s highly respected technology-engineering-construction-manufacturing companies, for keeping the ancient Vedic traditions alive by invoking the goddess Earth at the launch of this prestigious mass transit project.
Hyderabad Metro Rail is expected to carry about 1.5 million passengers daily by 2015 with a frequency of 3-5 minutes. This project of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), a public-private partnership, was awarded to successful lowest bidder L&T. Pankaj Dwivedi and N.V.S. Reddy are Chairman and Managing Director respectively of HMRL.
L&T, whose tagline is "It’s all about Imagineering", was founded in 1938 in Mumbai by two Danish engineers. A. M. Naik and K. Venkataramanan are Chairman and Chief Executive Officer respectively.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that invoking of all nourishing Earth, which provided shelterto all of us, her children; asking her to be gracious to us and seeking her cooperation for our prosperity and happiness; was considered very auspicious.
