Issue of denigration in a film song from ‘Shanghai’
|
Sangli (Maharashtra) : The acclamation ‘Bharatmata ki Jai’, which kindles patriotism in citizens of this country, has been ridiculed in Diwakar Banerjee’s Hindi film titled ‘Shanghai’. This film will be released on 8th June. This denigrating song has hurt sentiments of millions of patriots; therefore, this film should not be released in any theatre. The above demand was made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a memorandum submitted to Mr. Sambhaji Pawar, the Vice Zonal President of BJP when he assured that BJP would oppose the denigration. Mr. Narendra Raykar and Aditya Raykar of HJS were present on the occasion.
The same memorandum has also been submitted to Mrs. Neeta Kelkar, the Zonal President of BJP’s women’s wing. She said that she would write to the Censor Baord for cancellation of the said song from the film.
Workers of Sambhaji Brigade had claimed that pictures of Samartha Ramdas Swami and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj printed on the notebooks manufactured by Sanatan had hurt their so-called sentiments and tried to stop distribution of the note-books. This is very wrong and such tyrannical acts cannot hide the true history, said Mr. Sambhaji Pawar. He also said that he would inform his party workers from Pandharpur to look into the matter.

Dibakar Banerjee’s film ‘Shanghai’ seems to be grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons these days. After being in the news for the much-talked-about Kalki-Prosenjit lip lock and then being criticised for the lyrics of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ song; now a legal case has been filed against the film.
A legal complaint has been filed against ‘Shanghai’ team and Central Board of Film Certification under Section 153/153A/153B/120B/34 of IPC & Contempt of National Honour regarding the controversial song ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Though, it is still not clear who has filed the case against the film team.
Earlier, the song, which stars Emraan Hashmi, had received flak from a political group Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena. The group had disapproved of the lyrics of the song and had threatened the filmmakers to remove the song from the film.
Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena seemed furious when the group tweeted: “We are giving open warning to Shanghai Directer to remove Bharat Mata Ki Jai song from the movie. Otherwise movie will be banned… We strongly condemn the lines Bharat Mata ki jai Sone ki Chidiya, Dengu, Maleria gud hai, Gobar hai Bharat Mata Ki jai (sic).”
‘Shanghai’ is a political thriller which revolves around the greed and corruption of politicians. The film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Abhay Deol and Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Subject : Request to cancel Censor Certificate to Dibakar Banerjee 's movie "Shanghai" which denigrates the Patriotic song 'Bharat Mata Ki Jay'
Dear Sir,
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is an NGO engaged in Nation building, educating people about Dharma & Dharmacharan, awakening & uniting Hindus for the past 9 years. The objective of the Samiti is to create awareness about Hindu issues, to educate about Hindu Dharma, to unite Hindus globally, to achieve broader social interests instead of their narrow-minded power centric Hinduism, to stop denigration of Hindu Dharma (Righteousness) and to protect the Nation.
It is understood from the media the that Dibakar Banerjee's fillm "Shanghai's Lyrics of the song ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ has hurt the Patriotic sentiments of Proud Indians. A tweet from Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena reads: “We are giving open warning to Shanghai Directer to remove Bharat Mata Ki Jai song from the movie. Otherwise movie will be banned..etc." . We strongly condemn the lines Bharat Mata ki jai Sone ki Chidiya, Dengu, Maleria gud hai, Gobar hai Bharat Mata Ki jai (sic).
We have appealed to you various times in the past for the similar denigrations in various movies but there has never been a positive response from your end. This time we are informing you in advance and hope to take into consideration, the National sentiments of millions of Indians and not to issue the censor certificate to this movie unless this denigrating song is deleted from the movie. I hope that you will honour our request this time. In case the censor board passes the film, the Samiti will organise large protests.. Please acknowledge receipt of this letter.
Sincerely,
Shivaji Vatkar
