Issue of dissolving board of trustees and taking over management if theft occurs in temple


Mumbai : Maharashtra Government has decided to dissolve the concerned board of trustees and appoint an administrator and appoint an administrator in case theft takes place in temple. The news has been published in newspapers like ‘the Times of India’, ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ and ‘Dainik Saamna’. This is a ploy once again hatched by the Government to ‘governmentalise’ temples. It was, therefore, resolved in a meeting organized by trustees of various temples, the proposed Temple and Religious Institutions’ Trustees ‘Mahasangh’, Maharashtra and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to strongly oppose the above ploy at all levels.

Temple trustees and devotees at other places should also oppose the decision taken by the Govt. at all levels, with unity, so as to force the Govt. for cancellation of such anti-Dharma decision. – Editor SP)

The meeting was attended by Mr. Sudhir Tejpal of ‘Seth Gokuldas Tejpal Trust’, Mr. Girish Shah of ‘Jain Mandir’, Mumbai, Mr. P. P. M. Nair of ‘Sree Ayyappa Mandir and Keraliya Kshetrapalan Samiti’, Dr. Uday Dhuri of the proposed ‘Temple and Religious Institutions’ Trustees Mahasangh, Maharashtra’, Mr. Rajan Bhurke, the coordinator of temples in Navi Mumbai, Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the district coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad besides trustees and office bearers of other temples.

It was unanimously decided in the said meeting to carry on the movement through various means like giving representation to Maharashtra Government protesting against this decision, undertaking signature drive in all temples to create awareness among people, distributing handbills on the subject, display big hoardings outside temples for enlightening people, stage agitations in the background of monsoon session of the Government, raising voice through elected representatives in the cabinet of ministers etc.
