Ramanathi, Ponda (Goa) : The atrocities on Hindus post-Independence were much more than even in Mughal regime. In 1990, the Kashmiri Hindus had to become refugees in their own land. This was a very big incident in the world where maximum number of people had been displaced from a region. At that time no one was there to help them. There was not a single protest in India against these atrocities. However, a French journalist Francois Gautier came forward and created an exhibition on these atrocities on Kashmiri Hindus. HJS organised these exhibitions at over 263 places in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, U.P., and Haryana. The exhibitions were visited by 5,08,642 people. The Kashmir Hindus attained sympathy all over the country and their confidence was boosted because of the educative campaign that occurred through these exhibitions. Moreover, Hindu organisations developed a sense of religious brotherhood towards Kashmiri Hindus. This was stated by HJS’ National Guide Pujya Dr. Charudatta Pingale.
Pujya Dr. Pingale further said, " The medias had not published news on Kashmiri Hindus but because of these exhibitions they had to take the cognisance of the oppression of Hindus. Many people carried out many activities for Hindus. Hindu advocates in Varanasi launched protests. Police and administration in Maharashtra opposed these exhibitions but their opposition was overcome by the support of Hindu organisations."
