HJS agitations continue against denigration of ‘Om’

Mumbai: Shri. Mahendra Patel, the owner of ‘Om Pandharpuri Tambakhoo (tobacco)’ told members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) that by coming month of March, the ‘Om’ sign on the packet of ‘Om Pandharpuri Tobacco’ will be removed but the brand name will not be changed i.e. the sign of letter ‘Om’ will be withdrawn and will be replaced with word ‘Om’. Dr. Uday Dhuri, the convener of HJS said that the change does not really stop denigration of the holy sign ‘Om’, so, the agitation against the company will go on.

All ‘mantras’ start with the sign of ‘Om’. Hindus worship Lord Ganesh as in the form of ‘Om’. There is lot of energy in the sign ‘Om’ and is the source of divine energy. For the past many years, the holy sign is being desecrated. The empty packets of tobacco are thrown on the roads and trampled; thus hurting feelings of Hindus. HJS has been trying to make the owner aware of such denigration; but the management has only given false promises to HJS of removing the holy sign from the packets of tobacco. The matter was finally taken up in the Legislative Assembly (LA) and instructions were given by the Speaker to take action against the company; but nothing has been done. In the recently concluded winter session of LA also orders were issued to take action against the company within 24 hours. So many days have passed since then; still nothing has been done.

Shri. Mahendra Patel informed members of HJS that it will take 2 more months to bring the product with new packet covers in the market by that time all old stock will be sold. He said further that although the sign of ‘Om’ will be removed from the packet covers, ‘Om’ word will not be removed, as it is the name of one of the owners of the company.
