Kolhapur (Maharashtra) : Interfering and advising against the ritual of idol-immersion followed by Hindus is equal to breach of religious rights of Hindus according to a verdict passed by the Supreme Court; therefore, Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) and Municpal Corporations will be taken to Court if they commit breach of this right. The above warning was given by Mr. Ramesh Shinde, the national spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) in a press conference held at ‘Shahu Smarak Bhavan’ today. Dr.Mansingh Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha, Mr. Sambhaji Salunkhe, district-President of Bajarang Dal, Mr. Mahesh Ursal, its city- President and sculptor, Mr. Rajendra Kumbhar were also present on the occasion.
Paper pulp causes pollution ! – Ramesh Shinde
Mr. Ramesh Shinde said that the Government is using double standard against Hindus and is acting against Dharma. The so-called pro-environmental organisations and Government are misleading people. The so-called environmentalists and ANS, who are inactive for 364 days in a year, need not teach us lessons on Dharma and pollution. We do not support pollution; but the drive undertaken by ANS with the help of municipal coroporations is against the science as prescribed by Dharma. Immersion of Sri Ganesha idols in flowing water is in accordance with the science; but in the name of pollution, ANS is making false propaganda. Under ‘RTI’, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has given, in writing, that paper pulp causes pollution; however, it is encouraging making of idols with paper pulp. He provided many proofs of Pollution Control Board’s hypocratic ways.
25 persons died due to polluted river water; where was ANS then? – Bajarang Dal
Mr. Salunkhe of Bajarang Dal said that scum from sugar factories is mixed with River Panchganga’s thousands of litres of water through ‘Jayanti’ nullah. This does not cause pollution; but ANS feels that only immersion of Sri Ganesha idols causes pollution. Poisonous water from factories was mixed with river water causing 25 persons death who suffered from jaundice at Ichalkaranji; where were ANS members at that time? He made an appeal that municipal corporation should lift the ban imposed on excavation of clay used for making idols and ban use of Plaster of Paris (PoP). Mr. Mansingh Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha explained the drive of ‘ideal celebration of Ganesha festival’ undertaken by Sanatan Sanstha. Mr. Mahesh Ursal took ANS to task for its anti-Hindu activities. Advocate, Miss Rhucha Bhise did compeering of the program.
