Panvel (Maharashtra) : Hindu-haters damaged the ‘swayambhu’ idol of Shri Bapdev along with throne and threw the idol in nearby bushes. The incident has created furore amongst local Hindus and they have expressed their strong displeasure over the said incident.
There is a ‘swayanbhu’ temple of Sri Bapdev in Khanda Colony. Some unknown anti-Hindus damaged the idol by hitting with stones and dragged it to nearby bushes. In the morning when devotees came to the temple, they observed the desecration and found big stones and empty liquor bottles in the temple. Police visited the temple as they heard about the incident, followed with local MLA of Congress, Mr. Prashant Thakur. He met the local residents, heard their grievances and consecrated the idol. It is learnt that five persons have been taken into custody by the police on suspicion.
