Immersion of Ganesh idols through a grand procession by HJS at Margao

Margao (Goa) : Shri Ganesh idols seized by the police were handed over to the HJS for immersion, vide an order by the JMFC on Wednesday. The HJS held an immersion procession this afternoon and immersed the Ganesh idols in the river at Dharmapur, Navelim. Devout Hindus and Hindu organizations from in and around Margao had participated in the immersion procession. 

On 1st April 2012, the police had filed a complaint against unknown culprits for dumping Shri Ganesh idols on the roadside at Margao. Some of these idols were broken while the others were in good condition. As per the science of Spirituality, broken idols must be immersed immediately; else it results in denigration of the deity. HJS’ State Convenor, Dr. Manoj Solanki had appealed to the JMFC to grant permission for traditional and ritualistic immersion of the Ganesh idols seized by the police. Accordingly, the JMFC, on Wednesday, had issued an order to the Margao police to hand over the seized idols to HJS. Advocate T. Nagesh of the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad had represented HJS in the court.
 
The Ganesh idols handed to HJS by the court were carried in a procession and immersed ritualistically. The procession begun from Hari Mandir, Malbhat. Devotees who had participated in the procession were chanting Shri Ganesh’s name. Also information, on how HJS succeeded in its legal battle of stopping denigration of Shri Ganesh, was being given through loudspeakers. The procession moved towards Municipal garden from Hari Mandir and was concluded at Dharmapur, Navelim. HJS’ State Convenor, Dr. Manoj Solanki briefed the crowd present about the steps taken by HJS in its legal battle to stop Shri Ganesh’ denigration and HJS’ stand w.r.t. this activity. Aarti was performed on the Ganesh idols on the banks of the river at Dharmapur, Navelim and prasad was distributed to all present. The Ganesh idols were immersed in the river amidst singing of the deities’ praises.
