Madikeri (Goa) : A press conference was arranged by Hindu Janjagruti Samiti on 7th September at Madikeri to educate Hindus on how to celebrate Ganeshotsava as stipulated in Dharma and the need for Hindus to unite. The press conference was attended by M/S Mr. Harshavardana Shetty, Madikeri Dist Co-ordinator of HJS, J.T. Raghavendra President of Patanjali Yoga, Rajkumar President of Maratha Sangha, Shivaram, President of Kannika Parameshwari temple, Gangadhara, a proud Hindu, Shrimati Gombe Appachu of HJS and several Senior citizens.
Mr. Harshavardhana Shetty informed that Shri Bal Gangadhar Tilak has started Ganeshotsava with the intension of uniting all Hindus, but nowadays, it has become a source of entertainment displaying programmes based on anti-Hindu culture such as use of Djs, vulgar dances, consumption of alcoholic drinks, gambling, playing movie songs, extortion of money, programmes lacking culture etc. He appealed people to stop all such activities. Tilak started Ganeshotsav to give relief from the injustice meted out by British and drive them out from our country. As a result all Hindus were united and fought against British. At present our country is facing similar situation such as infiltration in Assam from Bangaladesh, rioting by Muslims in Azad Maidan Mumbai, injustice meted out to Hindus in Kashmir etc.
In such a situation, it s very necessary to unite Hindu society during Ganeshotsav. All Ganesh Mandalis will have to display patriotism. Then only all Ganesh Mandals will be benefitted by the blessings of Shri Ganesh. Mr. Shetty further stressed the need for avoiding all malpractices being practiced in the name of Dharma during Ganeshotsava.
