Success of activists of ‘Gou-raksha’ Samiti
Manchar (Dist. Pune, Maharashtra) : ‘Tata 909’ and ‘Eicher 1109’ were the vehicles in which 99cattle including bulls, cows, calves etc. were dumped for transporting to Deonar slaughter house , Mumbai. The animals were rescued by activists of ‘Gou-raksha Samiti’ yesterday early morning with the help of the Police. Two calves have died due to suffocation. All the rescued animals have been sent to ‘Hambirrao Mohite Gou-shala’ at Vadaki. (Congratulations to activists from Manchar for rescuing cows and cattle successfully ! – Editor SP)
The cattle was being illegally transported in vehicle with regd. nos. – MH-14-BJ 1446, MH-11-AL 521, MH-42- 8538, MH-16-AE 2115, MH-04-EL- 2540 and MH-04-EL 7141. The activists and Police received the news about the cattle being taken to Deonar slaughter house. They stopped the above vehicles at Manchar at 3.30 a.m. and caught the tempo-drivers. 77 bulls, 12 calves, 8 buffaloes and 2 cows were rescued by the activists. A case has been filed against the drivers under clauses 5, 6, 9 and11 of ‘Conservation of Animals Act, 1976’ with Manchar Police Station. Activists viz. Mr. Pundit Modak of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Krushi Gou-Seva Sangh’, Mr. Vikas Gunjal from ‘People for Animals’, Mr. Santosh Bhegade, Sandip Bankhele of Bajarang Dal and Mubaraq Shaikh, Sunil Maharaj Varghede of ‘Matrubhoomi Dakshata Movement’ were present on the occasion.
